We’re proud to share the release of the Mana Motuhake o Te Kai evaluation — a rich reflection on the journey so far and the collective impact of communities championing local food sovereignty in West Auckland.
This kaupapa was born from the belief that communities hold the solutions to reclaiming their own food systems and wellbeing. Over the past two years, whānau, marae, growers, and local champions have come together to share mātauranga, build connections, and strengthen local kai pathways.
The evaluation captures the stories, learnings, and aspirations of those at the heart of this work. It highlights what becomes possible when communities lead, and systems adapt to enable mana motuhake — the power and autonomy to determine our own futures.
We acknowledge everyone who contributed their insights, voices, and energy to this kaupapa. Your commitment is helping to shape a future where access to healthy, local kai is a normal part of everyday life for everyone in our rohe. Read the full evaluation below.
