On the 17th and 18th of July 2023, Alcohol Healthwatch organized the Defining Our Future – Alcohol Policy and Planning Forum at Te Noho Kotahitanga Marae in Tāmaki Makaurau-Auckland.
More than 100 people, including Healthy Families Waitākere team members, gathered during these two days to stay up to date on the latest evidence regarding alcohol policy, engage in discussions about successes and challenges, and pinpoint priorities for action aimed at reducing alcohol-related harm in Aotearoa New Zealand.
Attendees came from various parts of the country, representing crucial sectors involved in mitigating alcohol-related harm, including regulatory and enforcement agencies, health promotion and community action, research, mental health and addictions, as well as policy and planning.
This policy brief represents the consensus of those in attendance.
