School Eats delivering lunches that don’t bust the budget

After demonstrating early success, social enterprise School Eats has extended its healthy and affordable lunch options to a further school, Holy Cross, in West Auckland. The rollout will see an additional 350 students and teachers having access to affordable, healthy lunches in West Auckland.

Healthy Families Waitākere Manager, Kerry Allan, says Schools Eats unique offering brings healthy, convenient and affordable lunch options through the school gates and into the hands of school students.

“Since the launch in term one, School Eats has delivered over 250 healthy and affordable lunches to school students in West Auckland. Celebrating its launch into an additional school, Holy Cross, is a promising milestone to reach and we look forward to working with more schools in 2020.”

Lincoln Heights Associate Principal, Toby Kite, says the convenience factor has been of particular benefit for parents.

“School Eats provides tamariki with healthy, affordable lunches with added convenience for parents. It’s been a great success, we’ve had parents pre-purchasing lunches for the entire term.”

School Eats was developed in collaboration with, Lincoln Heights School and Our City Church, providing nutritious lunches priced at only $5 each. Lunches are hand-made each morning, parents order via the School Eats website, with the option to pre-order the lunches in advance for added convenience.
