The key elements needed in building authentic partnerships was the core focus of a day’s workshop held in West Auckland recently. With funding from WEAVE, Kai West member, Healthy Families Waitākere Systems Innovator Michele Eickstaedt organised the workshop, presented by the Partnership Brokering Association of Aotearoa New Zealand. The workshop was free to attend and open to local and regional organisations.
Over 20 organisations took part on the day, with team members from West Auckland organisations such as Hoani Waititi Marae, Community Waitākere and Massey Matters. These groups worked alongside regional representatives from Auckland Council and Fair Food learning about common challenges and expectations of what effective partnerships can look like.
The Partnership Brokering Association shared crucial advice what effective cross-agency/ cross-sector collaboration and partnership requires, alongside the Five Principles of Good Partnership: Embracing Diversity, Building Equity, Nurturing Openness, Mutual Benefit and Courageousness.
Several participants on the day have since shared their learnings back with their respective teams, extending the knowledge and information further across West Auckland.
