The past few months have been a blur of excitement as we have welcomed five outstanding individuals to the Heathy Families Waitākere kaupapa. Christian Curtis, Vinetta Plummer, Palenatino (Tino) Malo, Micheal Collins and Kristen Te Moananui have joined the team, bringing a diverse range of skills and experience which promises to enrich and further strengthen our collective efforts to create meaningful impact in our communities.
Systems Innovators, Christian, Tino, Micheal and Kristen have a shared commitment to supporting better health and wellbeing for communities in West Auckland and have come on board to drive the innovation engine for the Heathy Families Waitākere kaupapa. Joining as the Government Systems and Policy Advisor, Vinetta will concentrate on identifying key systems levers and fostering strategic relationships to drive impactful systems change.
General Manager Health, Mike Tipene, expressed his enthusiasm for welcoming the new team members. “Each new member brings a fresh perspective and energy to the Healthy Families kaupapa, aligning perfectly with our dedication to fostering innovation and collaboration within the communities we serve. Their passion for the community is evident, and I’m looking forward to seeing how their new perspectives will shape the mahi we do to support better health outcomes for communities.”
In other great news Systems Innovation, Rea Kenkel has transitioned into a new role within the wider Sport Waitākere workforce as Practice and Development Advisor & Systems Innovator. She will lead a team of Systems Innovators along with three others in the community sport and recreation space. Kenkel explains, “This new position will have oversight on mahi from both the Healthy Families kaupapa and Community Sport and Recreation, with the potential to foster greater collaboration and cohesion. I’m excited to see where this could lead.”
The journey into 2025 sees Healthy Families Waitākere in strong position, with a full team rearing to go. We look forward to working together to achieve our shared vision and celebrating the unique contributions of every member of our team.
